Meet Lena at AFC Toronto

One match, two objectives
Lena Silano’s first Northern Super League goals helped AFC Toronto secure a playoff place. Her club’s next assignment carries significance in two competitions.
Toronto hosts Vancouver Rise FC at York Lions Stadium on October 4 at 1 p.m. ET. The match counts toward the NSL regular season and also serves as a quarterfinal in the inaugural W Canadian Championship, giving Toronto a cup objective alongside its pursuit of another Supporters’ Shield.
In a September 28 update, Toronto said it stood three points behind league-leading Montréal Roses FC with three regular-season matches remaining. All three are at home: Vancouver first, followed by Calgary Wild FC on October 18 and Halifax Tides FC on October 26, with the latter two matches at BMO Field.
The role behind the goals
Silano enters that stretch after scoring twice in the 3–0 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC. Her opening goal came from pressuring the goalkeeper, and she added a second after the interval.
Coach Marko Milanović’s assessment also emphasized her contribution beyond finishing, including defensive work, receiving with her back to goal and helping at set pieces. That broader role provides the context for her place in Toronto’s attack as the club moves from securing postseason qualification to competing for additional silverware.
