Milestone reached September 27
Wins over USC and Iowa
A milestone in a comeback
Amanda Schlueter’s latest milestone arrived with a game still needing to be won. The Ohio State senior scored twice in the second half against Iowa on September 27, turning a one-goal deficit into a lead and becoming the first player in the program’s history to reach 100 career points. The Buckeyes finished with a 3–1 victory.
Two days later, the Big Ten named Schlueter its Offensive Player of the Week. She had scored four times across wins over USC and Iowa, supplying the winning goal in both matches.
The Iowa comeback gave those numbers their context. Sara Batchadji put the visitors ahead before halftime. Schlueter equalized at 63:58, scored again at 66:10, and Jadin Bonham added a penalty at 70:04. A match that had demanded patience changed in just over six minutes.
AthleMix analysis: watch the whole sequence
For players building their own game, that sequence offers a useful film-study question: how does an attacker stay involved when the scoreboard is working against her? The goals are the obvious clips to watch, but the possessions before them can be just as instructive.
For recruits comparing programs, it is also a reason to follow full matches alongside individual highlights. A scoring record tells you about production over time. A comeback shows the circumstances in which that production matters.
Ohio State’s next scheduled opponent is Northwestern on October 3.
